I taught for many years in India, and the first lesson I learned was that I needed to practice being aware. Without a doubt, the biggest part of being aware is to acknowledge what your aware mind and body are doing on a daily basis. This is a big deal because the majority of our actions and thoughts are not conscious, so if we can’t acknowledge them, we won’t be aware of them.
One thing I’ve learned, if you’re not aware, you can’t be aware of it. So the next time you’re in a fight or a dangerous situation, remember to look around and recognize your opponent. That’s because in a fight, if you don’t know that you’re in danger, you will not be aware that you are in danger.
If you can’t see whats going on, you cant be aware of it. And if you dont know whats going on, you wont fight. I have heard this many times from people who have gotten hurt in fights. I dont know why I feel this way, I just do.
In a fight, you don’t fight with all your cognitive faculties at the same time. This is because when you fight, all of your faculties are engaged.
In one fight, you are aware that you are in the fight, but you are also aware that you are in danger. In a fight, you are aware of your opponent’s position and about what your opponent can do to you. With indian teacher, I was not aware of the position of my opponent, but I was aware of his power and my own. It made sense. In other words, it felt natural.
I think that a lot of people (me included) feel like they are in a fight, but it’s not quite that. There are multiple fights going on at the same time, and while you are aware of the position of your opponent in each fight, you are also aware of what your opponent can do to you and what you can do to your opponent.
This is a simple concept. In all of the previous examples of what happens when two people fight, it was clear that the person who had the upper hand in each fight was the person who was capable of stopping the other from doing this. The person who couldn’t stop the other person from doing this was the person who was in the position of power.
This is true in a lot of sports. Not just boxing, but also hockey, soccer, and even in American football. It’s called the “cornered ball” and is a term that is used to describe a situation where one team is having an advantage. Think of it like this: If you have two balls and you’re trying to hit a target, you have one ball in your hands and the other ball in your opponent’s hands.
Yeah this is a very common scenario in Indian education, but it is actually a really difficult problem to solve. You need to figure out what kind of context you are in and what actions you can take to prevent the other person from doing the same thing to you.
Well, at first I was like “Wait.. I’m in a game where one person is trying to hit another in a different way, and I have no clue what that is, so how can I stop that?” But then I realized that you don’t have to figure it out. You just have to stay in the game and figure it out. So the only thing to do is to simply play the game and try to figure it out.
